BELMOPAN, Thurs. Oct. 14, 2021– On Thursday, October 14, two Caribbean Chicken employees were viciously attacked and abducted while carrying out their duties as salesmen in Belmopan.

According to police reports, the authorities found an abandoned delivery truck in some bushes within the University Heights area of Belmopan. Upon searching the vehicle, they found Caribbean Chicken employee, Daniel Magaña, stowed away in the freezer compartment.

According to Magaña and his coworker, Odin Herarate, who managed to escape prior to police’s discovery of the vehicle, the duo were conducting business as per normal on Toledo Street. The duo were then held up at gunpoint by two unknown men. Herarate was hit in the face with the butt of a firearm, while the attackers threw Magaña into the freezer compartment.

The assailants then took possession of the vehicle and drove it towards the Libertad junction, in Corozal . At that point, Herarate managed to jump out of the stolen vehicle.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen during the robbery. Police investigations have already led to the detention of one suspect. The department currently is trying to locate another suspect.
