Will Juventus hold serve and drink champagne? Or will Sagitun break through and bring the Big Dance to the MCC Garden?
Could it have been the overall rating or ranking that we gave Gatorade Juventus? ?portero? Giovanni Rodriguez in last week?s edition of the Amandala that had him flying around like Spiderman? Or was he just hyped about returning to his old stomping grounds at the Michael Ashcroft? In any case, Se?or Rodriguez, you saved your team?s bacon and we have to give you the big-ups for doing that. Giovanni was playing like a possessed man between the sticks stopping everything that came at him.

Last Friday night at the Belize City Center, the BTL Nets demolished, demoralized, whipped, abused, okay we get the point. Those are just some of the nicer verbs that we can use in describing the 27-point blowout suffered by the Belmopan Blue Devils in the 80?53 loss.
The Nets never trailed in the game, but noticeably they were without one of their superstars and unquestionably one of the most talented players to ever lace up a pair of sneakers playing basketball for the Nets and for the nation of Belize ? Keith ?Superman? Acosta. Acosta was absent because he was across the border doing what he does best - ?hooping it up.? Whether he was absent without leave is yet to be answered, but judging by what is unfolding, we assume that he was AWOL.

When the word somehow leaked to Sagitun fans sometime in the week that they were contemplating playing their first game on the road, that shocked many of their fans who wanted to see or hear the logic behind going to Orange Walk?s People?s Stadium and giving up the home field advantage to Gatorade Juventus.
Call it luck, or call it destiny, but that notion had to be scrapped since the People?s Stadium will be busy with Orange Walk?s Fiestarama.

The BPFL playoffs are scheduled to continue this weekend with two critical games for three clubs. Big Bad Sagitun and Builders Hardware Bandits are still alive to make it to the championships, but it?s more of life support for the Bandits, who have to win in regulation time to have a chance. For Griga United, Sunday?s home game against Gatorade Juventus has absolutely nothing of importance to them except if they want to play spoiler, or perhaps save face by winning.
