CrimeChristopher Lamb “under pressure” for stand against crime and drugs

Christopher Lamb, 63, of Christopher Lamb Street in the Gungulung area of Lake I in the city, told Amandala that he is tired of being harassed by gangs and criminals of his area, who repeatedly throw feces into his yard because he has tried to stop them from committing crimes in the area.

Lamb said that on Tuesday he had gone out, and when he returned, feces had been thrown in his yard and after cleaning it, he went into his house, and then, more stool was thrown in his yard.

According to Lamb, he has informed the police of what has been going on and begged them to conduct frequent patrols and maintain visibility in the area.

Lamb said that last year a man whom he knows, who was armed with two machetes, tried to kill him. He had left his yard to do an errand and when he returned at about 1:00 p.m., he found the plants in his yard chopped up. He said that after he began to loudly vent his anger at the intrusions in the yard, a man from the area approached with two machetes in his hands.

Lamb said that when he saw the man coming, he quickly went to lock his gate, and that was when the man swung at him with the machetes. Lamb, however, ran into his house. He said that he waited until the man left the area, and then went to the police to make a formal report.

In his attempt to get away, however, he had injured his arm.

Lamb, a pioneer of the area, said that he has been harassed constantly in the neighborhood by some men who do not live in the area, but were brought in by men of the area to bully him, because he is taking a stand against drug activities and crimes in the area.

He said that he has made frequent complaints to the police, but the men usually leave the area whenever the police arrive, but as soon as the police leave, they return to harass and threaten him.

Lamb said that he is a pioneer in the area, which is why the street was given his name. He said that he wants to live in peace with his neighbors, but will not tolerate drugs and crimes. He is again calling on the police to carry out more patrols in the area, and to have a visible presence there.
