CJC Stunnaz pulled off a 1-point stunner – No Limits remain as the only undefeated in Week 4

SportsCJC Stunnaz pulled off a 1-point stunner - No Limits remain as the only undefeated in Week 4

Surprise? Upset? These are the questions being asked by the Corozal basketball fans following last Saturday night’s action at the Andres Campos Civic Center in Corozal Town.

The young CJC Stunnaz added some experience to their line-up with the veteran Eldred “Hollywood” Neal, and the chemistry worked. They pulled off a one-point victory over Taribo, by the score of 84-83. The game was hyped from tip-off. CJC Stunnaz came out hustling with some extra energy from rookie point guard Teofilo “TC” Noble, who was doing things that statistics sheet cannot show.

Taribo led all the way up until the 3:56 minute mark in the 3rd quarter when Kevin Arnold’s lay-up gave Stunnaz the lead. Juvencio “Tuck Tuck” Serrano scored a 3-pointer to tie the game at the 1:59 mark. The third quarter ended 56-55, with Taribo clinging on to the 1-point lead.

In the fourth quarter the game was up for grabs with the trading of baskets and a lot of turnovers by both teams. But in the last 5 seconds, Taribo missed three consecutive free throws which eventually sealed the deal for CJC Stunnaz.

For the winners, Kevin Arnold had a game high 36 points, 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 1 block, while his teammate Jareth Tillett, who was terrific in the paint, had a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 3 steals.

And for the Taribo squad, Jamir Enriquez had 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block, while point guard Juvencio “Tuck Tuck” Serrano had 11 points, 9 steals, 6 rebounds and 1 block as well.

In Game Two, the energy was no different from the first. The pace was hectic and there were a lot of blocked shots at the start of the game. But the Orange Walk Union Town Shattaz took control of the game by executing some very effective plays. But lo and behold, the experience of the No Limits team prevailed in the end to secure the 4-point victory by the final score of 58-54.

It seems to us that No Limits are establishing a trend. In their two outings so far, they stole the final minutes of the game and claimed victory in the very last second.

Big Man Kevin Domingo had a dominant game with a game high 21 points, 21 big boards and 3 steals to secure a double-double. Teammate Greg Rudon placed the icing on the cake with 16 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds and an assist.

For the very organized and well-coached Union Town Shattaz, Elton Banner had a good night with 17 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Rookie center Ian Carcamo was big in the paint with a terrific double-double, banking 15 points, 15 rebounds, 3 blocks and an assist.

There will be no games until the 30th of December 2006 due to the unavailability of the Civic Center. So, from the Corozal Basketball Association, have a happy and safe Christmas and remember – don’t drink and drive. Jah bless.
