BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 24, 2016–Two men have found themselves at the center of a very unusual but troubling police report after they allegedly attempted to rape another man.

ASP Juanito Cocom, in a police press conference held today by Ladyville police, told the media as follows:

“This morning at about12:30 a.m., Ranold Deon Hernandez, 24 years, Belizean Coast Guard of Palmar Road, Orange Walk District, arrived at the Ladyville Police Station in a grey Toyota Hilux. Upon his arrival, it was noted that he was covered in blood. He stated that he was socializing with two persons at a residence on Perez Road when he was sexually accosted by the two men.

“He claims that they attempted to rape him and that he fought them off.

“Shortly thereafter, a person arrived at the station bringing two male persons bleeding profusely.”

One of the men referred to in the report is the general manager of a Belize City business, and the other is a teacher, who, a source told Amandala, has not reported for work today. Both live in Ladyville, the media was told, and both were immediately transported to Belize City and are presently at the Belize Medical Associates undergoing treatment. They suffered wounds to the head and are listed in a stable condition.

“Police have visited a residence on Perez Road , where the incident occurred. It was processed, and a machete, a chisel and other items were retrieved. So far, we have still not managed to get a proper account of the incident from the persons at the hospital, the Belize Medical Associates. As we speak, police officers are interviewing them, to get their side of the story,” police said at the press conference.

On Sunday, the duo reportedly invited the Coast Guard officer to their home in Ladyville.

According to ASP Cocom, it is alleged by Hernandez that at around 12:30 a.m., after consuming several bottles of alcohol, the accused men apparently thought that the officer was excessively inebriated and as a result, pounced on him.

However, according to what Hernandez told police, he was able to fight off the two men, who tried to tie him up to sodomize him.

Hernandez then drove himself to the Ladyville Police Station, where he filed an official police report against the duo.

ASP Cocom said that afterwards, the accused men, both “bleeding profusely,” were taken to the Ladyville Police Station by a 71-year-old man.

According to police reports, both accused men suffered multiple injuries to their heads, but are listed in a stable condition at the Belize Medical Associates.

The Coast Guard officer also suffered injuries to his arm, by which it appeared that he was being forcefully held.

No charges have been brought against the accused men as yet, because police are yet to interview them to get their side of the story.
