Cocaine bust made in Little Belize

GeneralCocaine bust made in Little Belize

LITTLE BELIZE, Corozal District, Thurs. June 3, 2021– A drug trafficking operation in northern Belize was successfully intercepted by the Anti-Narcotics Unit on Thursday, June 3, 2021. According to reports, three men — 40-year-old Cornelius Reddecopp and 32-year-old John Reddecopp, both from the village of Little Belize; and 23-year-old Eric Barrera of Progresso Village, were apprehended after 7 kilograms of cocaine was found in the vehicle in which they were traveling.

Reports indicate that a suspicious white Chevy Silverado pickup truck, driven by Barrera was intercepted by the police on Little Belize Road. Upon inspection of the vehicle, police discovered 7 parcels of suspected cocaine on the floor in an orange bag behind the front passenger seat.

While the origin of the drugs remains unclear, it is believed that the cocaine may have been a part of the lost cargo from the narco plane that had crashed in Belize’s waters near Placencia about two weeks ago. The three men found in possession of the parcels were detained and they currently await charges for the possession of controlled drugs with intent to sell to another.
