BELIZE CITY, Sun. Nov. 29, 2020– We continue to see an ascending COVID-19 epidemiological curve in Belize. An average of 80 new cases was confirmed over the past 4 days since our last update.

Today, Sunday, the count reached 5,743 cases and 147 deaths, which amounts to a fatality rate of 2.6%. A total of 309 samples were processed, and 96 new cases were identified.

On Friday, November 27, 10 COVID-19-related deaths were recorded. An increased number of samples are being processed at this time, which also explains the increased number of confirmed cases.

On Thursday, November 26, a total of 317 samples were processed, and 92 new cases were found. Two deaths were recorded on that day — a male from the Toledo District and a female from the Orange Walk District.

In the Corozal District, 19 new cases were identified; 18 new cases were found in the Belize District, and Cayo recorded 28 new cases. Seven cases were found in the Stann Creek District and 10 in Toledo. A total of 35 recoveries were recorded.

Of the 266 samples processed on November 27, a total of 72 new positive coronavirus cases were found. An alarming 10 persons died from COVID-19-related complications on that day; 7 were males and 3 were females.

Three of the persons who passed away are from Cayo; while 1 death was recorded in the Belize District and 2 in Toledo. Two deaths were also recorded in the Corozal and Orange Walk Districts respectively. 35 cases were also recorded as recoveries on that day as well.

Sixty new positive cases were found on November 28 from a batch of 309 samples. Three deaths were reported on that day — 2 females from Orange Walk and one male from the Belize District.

In Corozal, 13 new cases were identified; 16 in the Belize District, 7 in Cayo and 24 in the Stann Creek District. A total of 16 recoveries were recorded.

Sunday, November 29, saw the death of an additional three persons. One male in his 50’s from San Jose Succotz died while undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital, while a man from Corozal in his 60’s died in Corozal Town and a female person in her 80’s from Dangriga also died.

There were 59 recoveries on that day, after which 43.9% of our cases remained active.
In the Corozal District, 43 new cases were identified; and 2 cases were found in Orange Walk.

In the Belize District, 6 new cases were found and 19 were identified in Cayo. Stann Creek had 6 new cases and Toledo recorded 20.

To date, the majority of confirmed cases are located in the Orange Walk District, with a total 1,625 cases as of November 29.

The Belize district, with 1,191 confirmed cases, has surpassed the case count of Corozal, which has 929 cases at this time.

Out west, Cayo recorded 889 cases. The Stann Creek District has a total of 490 confirmed cases, and Toledo has 271.

To date, 348 confirmed cases have been recorded in Ambergris Caye.
