Dangriga sports – Belize Road Way Construction Cycling Classic on November 18

SportsDangriga sports – Belize Road Way Construction Cycling Classic on November 18

The Dangriga Amateur Cycling Association will be hosting the biggest mountain bike cycling classic ever in Dangriga – the Belize Road Way Construction Cycling Classic in honor of T.V. Ramos. It will also be a part of the program of events for Garifuna Settlement Day.

This race will start from the Drums of Our Father monument at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, and head all the way on the Southern Highway to Placencia junction and back, and finish in front of the Telemedia Princess Royal Park.

Once again, riders from all over the country are invited to take part in this big event. Riders must have a mountain bike with size 26 wheel and size 48 spracket. There will be huge cash prizes for the first top 5 finishers. First place will receive $1,000.00. There will be numerous station prizes along the way both going and coming. First, second and third place trophies will be delivered to the top 3 finishers by the National Garifuna Council. Registration per rider is only $10.00. Football

Week 6 of the Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) Cup continued with games on Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27, at the Carl Ramos Stadium.

In game 1 on Friday, Southside FC drew, 3-3, with Backatown Culture. Frederick Flores (6 min), Wababa Noralez (31 min) and Byron Chavez (90+min) shook the net for Southside FC; while Backatown Culture got goals from Robert Hernandez (40 min), Arlynton Serano (66 min) and Darniel Swaso (85 min). Game 2 saw Benguche drilling Hopkins, 3-0, with goals from Shanti Castillo (4 min), Darwin “Cayo” Castillo (10 min) and Raymond Ramos (58 min).

On Saturday, game 1 was a blowout, as Umadagu bombed Police Special Constables, 4-0, with a goal apiece from Abraham Chavez (15 min), Hassan Lucas (23 min), Brandon Cacho (32 min) and Kowath Nicolas (75 min). In game 2, Green Gold FC shut out DYFA, 3-0, with all goals being scored by Genero Lemus who had a hat trick (12, 31 & 56 min).

Week 7 schedule:
Friday, November 2
6:30 p.m. – Aguillas vs Ghans
8:30 p.m. – Southside FC vs DYFA

Basketball

The Dangriga Basketball Association (DBA) will get its Elite Tournament top-4 playoffs started tomorrow, Thursday, November 1, at the Why-Not Island with the top 4 teams in the standings – BWEL Flames, Black Mambaz, Ghans, and Harlem. Playoff format is: 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3.

Thursday night, November 1, at Why-Not Island, at 6:30 p.m. it will be BWEL Flames vs Harlem, followed by Black Mambaz vs Ghans.

The 2 losers will play for third place, and the 2 winners will play for first place this Saturday, November 3, at the Why-Not Island.
