NAWL female football
The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) tournament will continue this weekend throughout the country of Belize. The game that was postponed last week Saturday at the Carl Ramos Stadium because of the national female team’s friendly on the same day, will be played this Saturday, March 9, at the Carl Ramos Stadium between our home girls, Dangriga Pumas vs Ladies Freedom Fighters from Punta Gorda, commencing at 4:00 p.m. It’s a females southern derby!
Our home team, Wagiya Sporting Club, after a huge home victory against defending champion Bandits Sport last week Sunday at Carl Ramos Stadium, will be heading to Belize City’s MCC Grounds this Sunday to meet one of our rivals, the military machine BDF FC. Wagiya won the first game with BDF in Griga, 2 to nil. That victory over the Bandits in Griga last Sunday got our home boys Wagiya with high motivation to finish strongly in this PLB second round Closing Tournament, to end up from nowhere to the top-4 playoffs.
The league leader of the National Elite Basketball League (NEBL), Griga Dream Ballers, with 5 wins & 1 loss, is on a roll; and it will continue like that, as the bench will get much stronger going into playoffs. This running, gunning team is a hard team to beat right about now, with a young coaching staff and young executive body, along with hundreds of fans from all over the country of Belize tagging along. This Saturday night, March 9, in the kulture capital Dangriga, the Russell Chiste Garcia Auditorium will not be big enough for fans from all over coming to see this big match, commencing at 8:30 p.m. – Griga Dream Ballers vs Darwin “Puppy” Leslie’s Belize City Defenders! This will be another victory in Griga for this long weekend.
