Benguche Park Fest Cycling Classic results

The 7th Annual Benguche Park Fest Cycling Classic was held on Sunday, October 13, starting (and also finishing) in front of the Benguche Park and heading to Sittee River junction and back. First place went to Kent “Mob” Gabourel, Jr., from San Pedro; this is son of the veteran footballer from Cayo, Kent Gabourel, Sr. Second went to Mark Gentle from Ladyville; third went to Edmund Camaal from Dangriga; fourth was “Champy” Galindo from Dangriga; fifth went to the only female who took part in this race, Patricia Chavarria.

The next race coming up will be the T.V. Ramos Cycling Classic, which will be held on November 17. This is part of the Garifuna Settlement Day celebration activities.

SCFA Old Master/Paul’s Guest House Cup

The Stann Creek Football Association’s (SCFA) 1st Division Tournament 2013 for the Old Master Rum & Paul’s Guest House Cup had Week 5 games on Friday and Saturday, October 11-12.

In game 1 on Friday, New Site FC crushed Valley Link FC, 4-0, with goals from Ian Lewis (32’), Hasaan Lucas (37’), Lamar Lemott (44’) and Brandon Murillo (80’). Game 2 was another shutout affair, as Hope Creek Pumas blanked Green Gold FC, 3-0, with a goal apiece from Rene Salguero (56’ PK), Arthur Roberts (85’) and Lionel Cabral (88’).

The opener on Saturday was another 3-0 shutout, with Benguche United breaking Master Link U-17 with 2 goals from Thomas Meyers (20’ & 52’) and the other from Darwin “Cayo” Castillo (54’). And in the nightcap, it was Southside FC, 6-1, over Aquilas FC. Shaking the net for Southside were Lionel Thompson (55’), Wasani Ramirez (31’), Azzizi Suaso (33’ & 43’), Jogni Nunez (48’) and Wababa Noralez (70’); while Egemeri Flores (8’) got the only goal for Aquilas.

8:30 p.m. – Hopkins FC vs New Site FC
Sunday, October 20
3:30 p.m. – Pomona United vs Wagiya U-17
5:30 p.m. – DYFA FC vs Silk Grass FC

As a result of the Stann Creek District Sports Council Primary School Football Tournament for the Hopkins Zone held on Tuesday, October 15, at Sittee River, representing the Hopkins Zone will be United Community Government School males and Richard Quinn R.C. females.

The Dangriga Zone tournament will be held next week Tuesday, October 22, at the Carl Ramos Stadium, starting at 9:00 a.m.

T.V. Ramos Cycling Classic, November 17

The annual T.V. Ramos Cycling Classic, on November 17, will be conducted by the Southern Regional Cycling Association. This will be one of the biggest races ever in Dangriga’s history. The entire members from the Weekend Warriors will be in Dangriga for this big event. This race will be from Dangriga to the Placencia junction and back, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on November 17. There will be over $2,000.00 in prizes plus trophies and over $400.00 in station prizes.
Carl Ramos explodes on Saturday, BDF vs FC Belize

Dangriga’s Carl Ramos Stadium will explode once again with Week 4 of the Premier League of Belize this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. sharp, as our home guys, Belize Defence Force (BDF) takes on FC Belize from Belize City.

It’s a family affair once again, so all the Stann Creek District football fans must be at the Carl Ramos Stadium on Saturday for this monster showdown – BDF vs FC Belize.

Ticket booth at the Carl Ramos Stadium this Saturday night will open at 5:30 p.m. Entrance fee remains at $5.00.
