Here are the results from Week 5 games in the Dangriga Basketball Association (DBA) U-23 Summer Bounce Tournament, which were played at the Russell Chiste Garcia Auditorium on Friday and Saturday, August 23 and 24.

Friday, August 23 results

Hopkins Assassins remains the tournament’s top-ranked team, and is followed by Harlem Shockers, with Independence Young Generals, New Site Raiders and Ghans Vipers rounding out the Top Five.

Valley football

The North Stann Creek Cup 2019 Tournament continued over the weekend with Week 6 games at the Pomona New Site football field. In game one, Sarawee Bullets won over Pomona Assassins, 4 goals to 2. Scoring 1 apiece for Sarawee were Tremaine Thompson, Tyreque Castillo, Donell Arzu and Hillary Coleman; while Pomona Assassins got a goal each from Patrick Cruz and Ismael Bolon. In game 2, Pomona Strikers won over Pomona Thunderbolt, 2 goals to 1. Tyler Peters netted both goals for the Strikers, while Ornell Reyes scored for Thunderbolt.

3:00 p.m. – Santa Cruz Strikers vs Sarawee Bullets

PLB football

After 2 back-to-back losses on the road for the newly improved Wagiya football club, it’s bounce-back redemption time this Sunday, September 1, inside the Carl Ramos Stadium, by any means necessary for Wagiya, if they want to stay around for the playoff run, as they will host the Placencia Assassins at 4:00 p.m. While the winless Freedom Fighters Valley Pride will be on the road to Mango Creek’s Michael Ashcroft Stadium, desperately seeking for a victory this Saturday night against Altitude FC.

Cycling

The Annual Back-To-School Beach Cruiser Race, sponsored by E & J Kool Spot along with the Dangriga Amateur Cycling Association, was held over the weekend, on Sunday, August 25, with the following results:

Primary School Category (1 lap) – in 1st Place was Tyreek Hendy; 2nd was John Melendez; and 3rd John Petillo.

Secondary School Category (2 laps) – in 1st Place was Kadeem Castillo; 2nd was Kollen Ramirez; and 3rd Dinsdale Melendez.

The final race was in our Senior Category (8 laps) – in 1st Place was Rizden Flowers; 2nd was Regal Velasquez; and 3rd Raney Flores.

Dangriga Amateur Cycling Association’s next race will be next week Sunday, September 8, which will be the 3rd Annual Mayor’s Classic, which will be 10 laps around the main streets of Dangriga, for a total of 20 miles. This race is in conjunction with Dangriga Town Council’s September celebrations activities. This will also be an Open Race for riders from across the country of Belize who want to take part; but NO Elite riders can take part.
