GeneralDisabled man chopped to death in PG

Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District. Sat. May 22, 2021– Over the weekend, a man living with a disability was found with several chop wounds to the body.

On May 22, 2021, sometime around 12:25 a.m., the police had reported to the scene of an apparent murder following a tip from a source who saw a body with multiple chop wounds on New Road in Punta Gorda Town.

Upon their arrival, they witnessed 60-year-old, Marcus Tracy, commonly known as “Chippy”, lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Punta Gorda Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

At the residence, there was no sign of forced entry, leading to the belief that the perpetrator was a person whom Tracy had known. The initial investigation revealed that the deceased had an altercation with someone the police believe he had been socializing with.

Several persons have since been detained and are being interrogated concerning the murder.

The body will be transported to Belize City for a post-mortem as the Police Department continues its investigation.
