BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 15, 2018– October 2017 marked four years since Dr. Errol Elrington, the brother of Hon. Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington, has been a wanted fugitive in the United States.

While there has not yet been any formal request by US authorities for his extradition, Elrington’s photo hangs on the Office of the Inspector General (OIG)’s website.

On October 7, 2013, an arrest warrant was issued for Errol Elrington for the offences of racketeering, Medicaid fraud, and healthcare fraud.

It is alleged that Dr. Elrington swindled Medicare and Medicaid of more than $400,000 for services he never performed.

The OIG website claimed he hired an unlicensed physician who then engaged in criminal sexual misconduct with patients.

The felony complaint revealed that Dr. Elrington was a licensed physician practicing in the Redford, Michigan, area, who owned a private medical center named Elrington Medical Center PLLC (EMC).

Instead of treating patients at the EMC, Elrington allegedly spent most of his time employed as the chief medical officer at another medical facility that was unaffiliated with EMC.

For his patients at EMC, he allegedly hired an unlicensed physician to provide treatment but still billed Medicare and Medicaid as if he had performed the services.

The uncertified physician assisted many patients and conducted multiple pelvic exams on a female patient.

However, those examinations led to charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct, racketeering, Medicaid fraud, healthcare fraud, and health profession unauthorized practice.

The unlicensed physician was later detained by authorities. Elrington was held and interviewed by Federal and State agents. However, less than 24 hours later after being released, he fled to Belize.

The Office of the Inspector General has Dr. Elrington listed in 6th place on a list of more than 170 most wanted healthcare fugitives.
