GeneralDrug plane that landed in Toledo not found

GRAHAM CREEK, Toledo District, Mon. June 8, 2020– A suspected drug plane that reportedly landed in the Graham Creek area of the far south-west of the Toledo District near its border with Guatemala, has not been found.

A search for the aircraft was carried out by soldiers of the Special Assignment Group of the Belize Defence Force and a group of police officers. The law enforcement team went to the remote and unforgiving terrain and searched for the plane on Friday and Saturday, but the effort was in vain.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams made the announcement on Saturday that the plane has not been found.

Previously, at about 6:00 on the morning of May 28, a suspected drug plane crash-landed on a farm off the Chunox Sarteneja Road, in Corozal District, but by the time police went to the scene of the crashed plane, its crew and suspected drug cargo had disappeared.

A search of the area for the crew and illicit cargo was fruitless.
