Ex-servicemen, enough is enough!

LettersEx-servicemen, enough is enough!

Allow me to outline some of the measures against the Belize City Branch and you all good citizens can judge for yourselves.

(1) The big three are planning to sell Canada House and Compound at Newtown Barracks. This is the headquarters of the Belize Ex-Service League, also home of the Belize City Branch. The Belize City Branch and other district branches have not heard or approved for this plan to be undertaken.

(2) The big three have frozen the bank account of the Belize City Branch. This money represents blood ? sweat and tears of the members of the entertainment committee who more than sacrificed themselves through hard work at the branch dances. This is the same money that is used to bury financial Ex-Services personnel. There is not one penny coming from the league ? England or Canada. This act of freezing the branch account is criminal. None of the three are authorized signatories of the account. I would like the fellows from CIB and the Police Commissioner to pay a keen notice to this item #2.

(3) The same three are demanding payments from the branch while they freeze the bank account. Thus the name (three blind mice). A refund of some $5,000.00 was sent from England as reimbursement for the Belize City Branch payment for audit of the branch accounts. They have stopped payment on a loan from the branch in the sum of $3,500.00. The branch now stands at $1,850.00. Holding on to the branch reimbursements is once again a criminal act. I call on the authorities to take note.

It appears that the only recourse the Belize City Branch has is to go to the Supreme Court. I am appealing to the good offices of the Governor General ? the Hon. Prime Minister ? the British High Commissioner to defuse this horrible situation before it reaches the Supreme Court. The result and fallout could be very embarrassing to the crown and commonwealth.

I am also appealing to the good citizens of Belize, wherever at home or abroad, to rise up and defend the honourable men and women of the Belize City Branch. They served us well. Now they need our help. These three ?? appear to have lost all respect for their elders.

I urge the news media ? television, newspapers, radio: send your reporters around to the Belize City Branch. Those brave men and women do have a story to tell.

Signed: T.C.C.B.
