SANDHILL, Belize District, Mon. Aug. 3, 2015–A 16-year-old young man of Sandhill was stabbed twice in the chest by the angry father of a13-year-old girl after the father caught him having sex with the girl at his home in Sandhill, at about 10:00 this morning, Monday.

The young man was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted to ward in a serious condition. Police have detained the father pending charges of aggravated assault.

Police told Amandala that the girl’s family was aware that the boy and the girl were “friendly,” but had told the boy several times to keep away from the girl because she was too young.

The girl’s parents even took away her phone to discourage her from communicating with him.

When the girl’s father came home this morning at about 10 o’clock, he went into the girl’s room after hearing noise coming from the room, and he saw the young man having sex with his young daughter. He immediately confronted the young man and stabbed him, said police.

However, notwithstanding his age, the boy is expected to be charged with carnal knowledge of a female minor.

Section 47 Subsection 1 of the Substantive Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2000, states that every person who carnally knows a female child under the age of 14 years with or without her consent, shall on conviction on indictment be imprisoned for a term not less than 12 years, but which may extend to imprisonment for life.
