FC Belize finish off Mango Creek!!

SportsFC Belize finish off Mango Creek!!

Eleven minutes into the game, Bent Burgess was fouled just outside the eighteen-yard box resulting in a free kick that hit the crossbar and bounced in for what was obviously a goal. However, Elroy ?Zabel? Rowley?s quick reaction to pull it off the goal line denied Mango Creek their first opportunity.A minute later it was Daniel Thomas on the opposite side also being denied a chance to get Mango Creek FC into some serious problems.Thomas received a pass from Tyrone ?T-Bone? Muschamp but the ball sailed high over the bar.

Mango Creek controlled the first 20 minutes of the match until Jerome ?Jarro? James drove up the right side and served it up to Daniel Thomas, who lost his footing and was once again unable to connect on a pass.A few minutes later, Rudolph Flowers got in on the action on the left side when he missed a shot off a pass from ?T-Bone? Muschamp.

In the 37thminute Rudolph returned the favor to Tyrone on a long pass down the middle. With Hilly Muschamp on the defensive attack, ?T-Bone? was forced to squeeze off a shot that went high and away.

On the way to controlling the last few minutes of the first half, the Mango Creek defenders allowed Thomas Castro to roam free down the middle. Castro, who was all alone, took a hard shot but was wide of the mark.On the other end, Gilmore Palacio escaped up the right side placing a service into the eighteen-yard box where Bent Burgess connected with a weak header to a waiting ?Zabel? Rowley. Both teams squandered several first half opportunities, but one that was close came in injury time.

Mango Creek?s substitute keeper Kareem Westby had abandoned the sticks on a 50/50 ball with Rudolph Flowers.Flowers missed a wide open shot at goal, ending the first half in a scoreless tie.

In the second half, FC Belize returned with more aggression than they displayed in the entire first half.Six minutes into the half Tyrone Muschamp maneuvered up the left flank coming face to face with Kareem Westby.Westby was retreating and as he stumbled backwards, T-bone took a shot that went straight into his arms.

At the eight-minute mark, Westby felt the heat as Rudolph Flowers was able to find Daniel Thomas inside the box.Young Kareem Westby, who was in the biggest game of his young career, misread the service, but, lucky for him, Daniel Thomas sent a stray shot over the cross-bar.

Since Daniel Thomas was missing on several opportunities, he switched roles and became the assist man 14 minutes into the half.Thomas was able to elude a couple of Mango Creek defenders up the left side sending a perfect pass to Mark Zuniga, who blew it wide right.

On a rare attack from Mango Creek FC Paul Linares sent a high lob pass to the ever dangerous Bent Burgess from the left side, and he too was unable to score from deep inside the FC Belize eighteen-yard box.

From the 20thminute on, FC Belize went totally defensive as Mango Creek continued to pressure. The inexperience of the young FC Belize players caused them several turnovers in the middle throughout the game.In the waning minutes of the game, it was all FC Belize running up and down the field, trying to leave the MCC Gardens with a meaningless win.

The winning goal for Mango Creek came in the 89thminute when Gilmore Palacio was left all alone to drive into the eighteen-yard box.Palacio took a shot that deflected off FC Belize defender, Germin Avila, out-placing Zabel Rowley for the 1-nil Mango Creek victory, but still, too little and too late. Mango Creek is out.
