BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 24, 2019– The 1st leg games in the home-and-away semifinals of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) National Amateur Inter-District 2018-2019 Closing Season were played over the weekend in Belmopan and Belize City, where all 4 teams in the semifinals are based.

On Saturday night, June 22, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, Belize City’s Barrack Road FC took the first half lead through a follow-up from Francis Andrews at the 38th minute, after Club Atletico’s goalkeeper Orlando Galdamez couldn’t hold on to a rocket from 30 yards out by Barrack Road midfielder Jael Ottley. Club Atletico got the equalizer in second half from striker Tyriq Ciego, who beat two defenders before driving a grounder past Barrack Road goalkeeper Alvin Mangandi at the 63rd minute. 1-1, Club Atletico and Barrack Road FC.  Notably missing from the Barrack Road line-up was leading goal scorer, Steven “Breds” Baizar.  City fans are hoping he will be ready for the return match this Sunday in Belize City.

On Sunday, June 23, it was Roaring Creek United coming to town to face Caesar Ridge FC from Belize City at the MCC Grounds. All the scoring in this one occurred in first half, as a goal each from Sydney “Buck-it” Bradley (25’) and Orlando “Bredda” Velasquez (38’) gave Caesar Ridge the 2-0 victory over Roaring Creek. The decisive return match will be in Belmopan this weekend.
