BELIZE CITY, Thurs. June 6, 2019– Brian Armstrong, 32, a stevedore of 165 West Canal Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of being a member of a gang when he appeared today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. He was fined $3,500 and he was given until November 6, 2019, to pay.

If he defaults on payment, he will serve 3 years in prison.

Armstrong pleaded guilty to being a member of  Rocky Road Bloods, a gang that is located in the Rocky Road area that is in close proximity to its rival gang, George Street Bloods.

Police reported that they arrested and charged Armstrong after they did several investigations into his gang activity, which included surveillance of the area, viewing him with other gang members, observing his displays of gang insignia on Facebook, and conducting an interview with him in which he admitted to being a gang member.

After he was sentenced, Armstrong said that he is no longer a gang member. He said he quit about a year ago, but there is the belief that he is still a gang member because he still lives in the neighborhood.

He also said that it was he who handed himself over to the police yesterday when he found out there was a warrant for his arrest.
