Fisherman lost at sea

GeneralFisherman lost at sea

BELIZE CITY, Wed. July 28, 2021– A search is currently underway for a fisherman, Jarrid Usher, 30, who has been missing at sea since July 5, 2021, when he left Southern Foreshore on his skiff, Blessed Youth.

Usher’s family told local media that they are very concerned, since his fishing trips usually take no more than a week or so, and he has not been in communication with anyone for 23 days now.

Usher had prepared to go to sea to harvest lobster near English and Water Caye, according to his father, Raymond Usher. Usher said that last Tuesday someone said that they saw Usher on his way back to Belize City’s shores. He said that his son is a seafaring person and is a fisherman with keen instincts when he is out at sea.

Usher is one of two fishermen who are reportedly missing at sea at this time. The skiff of another fisherman, 41-year-old Karl Wagner, was found riddled with bullet holes.

Usher’s family hopes that he will return home to his 4-year-old son.

There has been no indication whether Usher was with another fisherman at the time of his departure from Belize City.
