GeneralFoetus, mother, granddad ? all crushed!

Police report that they were called to the scene of a traffic accident between Miles 15 and 16 on the Northern Highway on Wednesday, December 21, where they saw a silver Honda Accord with all passengers trapped inside, and a massive 18-wheeler truck with major damage to the front portion. Reports were that the truck was loaded with white marl. The victims were the driver of the Accord – Alfred, 47, of Baeza Alley in Orange Walk Town, and Primrose, 24, of San Ignacio Town and heavily pregnant with her fifth child.

Police said that initial investigations revealed that the 18-wheeler, driven by Wilhelm Reimer, 25, whom police are presently questioning, collided with the Accord. The 18-wheeler was headed towards Belize City, and the Accord was headed to Orange Walk Town. The 18-wheeler is still on the roadside tonight, but the mangled remains of the car are in the yard at the Ladyville Police Station.

Unconfirmed reports are that Alfred had to be pried out of the car because he was stuck under the seat.

Amandala today spoke with Alfred?s sister, Ethel Price, a resident of the Corozal District, who said that she had not seen her brother for a couple weeks now. She said that she was unaware that her niece was pregnant and found out after she received a call, around midnight, concerning the fatal incident. She said that she then called her brother, Ernest Price, in San Ignacio to give him the bad news.

Ernest told us that as soon as he got the message, he called his children and told them what had happened. He could not believe it, because he had seen both father and daughter earlier in the day, sometime around 3:00 in the afternoon in San Ignacio while they were conducting business.

Ernest said that Primrose was almost ready to deliver, that she was about 7 months pregnant.

?He said that he would return and see me before he left the town?, said Ernest, ?but he never did. I guess he decided to go straight to Orange Walk.?

A family member, Abigail Flowers, told us tonight that she could not endure the sight of her uncle and cousin today when she visited the morgue. Primrose had a very large hole in her forehead. Alfred was hit hard in the face; his teeth lay on his chest, covered in the blood which had soaked his clothes.

The front portion of the car had to be pried off for her uncle to be removed, Abigail said. She told us that reports are that her uncle swerved away from a vehicle that was about to collide with him, and upon making it safely through that emergency, could not swerve away from the 18-wheeler in time.

Alfred Price died a couple minutes after being taken out of the vehicle, and Primrose died on her way to the hospital.

The post-mortem, which had been scheduled for today, will instead take place tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. It is at that time that the family will be able to find out what kind of baby Primrose would have had. The family is tonight having a family gathering in Orange Walk Town to finalize funeral arrangements for Alfred, Primrose and the unborn baby.

Alfred leaves behind his mother, Ethel Hazel Price; three brothers, including David Price, the DFC Commission of Inquiry chairman, and Michael Price, former principal of Belmopan Comprehensive High School; 5 sisters, 7 children, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his death.

Primrose Logan, who was her mother?s only child, leaves behind four children, 3 boys and 1 girl; her mother, Soccora, 7 siblings, several cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends to mourn her death.
