For many years there have been wars in different forms

FeaturesFor many years there have been wars in different forms

For many years there have been wars in different forms. We humans have been trying to find a way of bettering our living conditions, but there has always been another power above us that oppresses and exterminates our activists for human rights. It is assumed and well-published in documents elaborated by the Secretariat of the United Nations, including the World Bank system, that by 2030 all the needs of the suffering people of the world will be addressed. However, today, we are in 2020 and there are millions of people who are in hunger, without shelter, without medications to cure their illnesses, yet our third world country’s natural resources are raked out by the big corporations and monopolies who are linked up with the World’s banking system.

They continue to do the same wherever they put their feet, and if there is a country that does not agree with their unfair policies, they are considered enemies of the established Western policy. Nonetheless, we have also had great thinkers who shared their thoughts, showing the way to develop a country or even the world. This is one of the systems called socialism, and for some unknown reason, the Western powers say that they practice a democratic system.

In that way we have a division among theory, since a country cannot exist without people, and these communities are the ones who decide the system that they want to live under. In a socialist system, democracy is also contemplated, since the objective to accomplish is a common welfare, equality and justice, where the people have a say in the decision-making of the internal and external policies of their country, whereby the democratic system of the United States has not been able to accomplish the above in their capitalist system. So, I would recommend a democratic socialist system rather than a democratic capitalist method of government. My thoughts are based on the progress that Cuba has achieved with all the commercial, financial and economic blockades. For example, the following is one of so many objectives.

FIHAV 2019: Companies in the Mariel Special Development Zone show progress

CUBADEBATE – November 5, 2019

The Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) has, for the first time, a pavilion at the Havana International Fair, whose 37th edition takes place at the Expocuba fairgrounds. In the same space, most of the businesses present in that strategic area located 45 kilometers from the capital are gathered. Recently approved companies, along with others with tangible results, reflect from their stands the steps taken by this Cuban megaproject that is already six years old. Also the service providers of the area converge, who are in charge of the development of the necessary infrastructure for the establishment of businesses: roads, underground networks of aqueduct, sewerage, information, electricity and public lighting.

Disposable diapers, from Mariel to Cuban stores

For four days in the stores of the CIMEX and TRD chains, a new brand of disposable diapers for babies and daily protectors for women has been marketed. Under the seal of the Vietnamese company Thai Binh Global Investment Corporation, “high quality items made in Cuba” arrive at the counters. In October, this ZEDM-based factory started, Vi Nguyen Phuong, general director of the consortium told Cubadebate. Not without mishaps the investment process initiated in 2016 advanced and planned to conclude initially in the first quarter of the current year. The plant has an annual production capacity of 120 million disposable pampers, and about 240 million intimate daily protectors. “To ensure that level, the factory operates every day of the week, in two 12-hour work shifts,” he said. The general director of Thai Binh Global Investment Corporation announced that they plan to subsequently market these assortments in the Caracol and Palco network of stores, as well as in international pharmacies. At the same time, “we are analyzing a special product for sale in the retail markets in Cuban pesos,” he argued. The company also values the possibility of including, for next year, another production line. Adult pampers, wet towels or more baby diapers are within the projections of this company belonging to Thai Binh, a firm present in Cuba for almost 20 years.

Richmeat places its offer in the retail network

Two weeks ago the Mexican company Richmeat began commissioning its factory established in the ZEDM. “In about 20 days, your product will be found in Cuban store chains”, Alejandra Chapela Díaz, vice president of the company, told Cubadebate. Spicy mixed mincemeat, without soy, is the offer of this company incorporated in 2015, which was among the first eight authorized in the area. One of Richmeat’s aims, in keeping with the interests of the country, is to promote productive chains with the national industry. Part of the raw material is already acquired within the border, while the purpose is to obtain on the islands all the necessary material in the manufacture of assortments, such as packaging.

Mariel’s only dealer already has its first user

The Portuguese capital company Ecoplast is the first user in the Parque Industrial de ViMariel, S.A., the only concessionaire to date of the ZEDM. “Our goal is to start the construction process as soon as possible,” said Tran Trong Bac, head of the Office of Viglacera S.A.

ViMariel, a subsidiary of Viglacera S.A., obtained Cuba’s authorization last March, in the context of the visit of the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, current president of that country. The company was finally established last July to, in a term of 50 years, “project, invest, build, manage and operate the infrastructure and the Industrial Park.”

Polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC for the manufacture of various plastic items, all with high demand in Cuba, will be used by the Portuguese company. The head of the Office of Viglacera S.A. confirmed that the main objective is to attract foreign investors to operate within the industrial park. “We are going to attract business to fill the park and support the economic development of Cuba.”

Six years in Zone

Currently, the ZEDM has 49 businesses, of which 26 are in operation and the rest are executing their investment processes, as specified by Ana Teresa Igarza, director of the Office of the Zone, when inaugurating on Monday the pavilion of that strategic area for the Cuban economy. According to the chief, in 2019 there is a growth in the number of companies operating in the productive sphere, which are added by users who provide construction and logistics services. Among the main results of the year, the establishment of the first businesses with German and Russian capital stands out. In this way the countries of origin of the investments have diversified, now totaling 20, in addition to Cuba. The ZEDM is the key project to attract foreign investment, considered a fundamental element for the development of the country. Cuba needs to capture two billion dollars annually to accelerate its economic growth rates.
