From Avalene to Zenaida

LettersFrom Avalene to Zenaida

I observed with much interest the charade surrounding Miss Moya?s UDP Mayoral declaration on Wednesday, September 28. I note that none of the other candidates have received this kind of attention by the UDP executive. I can only assume that the UDP hope to capitalize on Miss Moya?s recent media exposure and the fact that she is a woman.

Being a woman I should be happy with that. However, this is just another form of female EXPLOITATION. By this I mean that, had Miss Moya not been in the media over the past months, she would not even have been considered. I would almost want to bet that Mr. Ysaguirre would have been favored. I say this because I have seen his flyer, and he does offer the best agenda, even after listening to Miss Moya yesterday. As a matter of fact, I am disappointed in her as a woman for allowing herself to be manipulated, and for being lacking in originality. Most of what she aspires to do mirrors that of Mr. Ysaguirre, except for the removal of London Bridges and city beautification. She even shamelessly stole a quote from his flyer, ?The time to save your city is now.?

From one woman to another, I would advise the sister to be sure that what she utters are her ideas and not that of others that are being fed to her. For her to be successful she needs to be able to believe in her promises. As it is, her promise of removing London Bridges is already being challenged, and the criticism is a valid one.

Reluctantly, I wish Miss Moya the best, especially after witnessing the embarrassments to Diane Haylock and Marilyn Williams.

Sincerely,

(Signed) Avalene Lord
