Gion Kareem Bernard, 26, a resident of Castle Street, and his friend, Keyon Cleland, 30, an employee of CYDP, and who resides on South Street, have both been charged and arraigned in Magistrate’s Court for the rape of an 18-year-old woman.
The victim is a customer care representative and a resident of Belize City. She told police that on Thursday, December 1, she was socializing with Bernard at Cleland’s South Street home, and at 7:30 p.m., they had consensual sex.
Just after she and Bernard had finished, Cleland, who she better knew as “Nines,” reportedly opened the door with a key, and entered. He was wearing only his boxers.
Bernard reportedly left the room, and according to the woman, Cleland had sex with her against her will. She said that after Cleland had finished, Bernard came back and had sex with her again, but this time it was against her will.
Magistrate Roberto Ordonez explained to both men, who were unrepresented, that they could not be granted bail at this time. They have both been remanded to prison until January 10, 2012.
