GOB photographer, Norman Belisle, stabbed to death

GeneralGOB photographer, Norman Belisle, stabbed to death

Police told Amandala that they could not at this time reveal the specifics of the conversation that they had with Norman when they asked him to leave, or what the argument was about, although a police officer gave an interview to a local television station.

According to Police, when they spoke with Norman and told him to leave the premises, he complied, but must have returned shortly thereafter.

Police received a second call about twenty minutes after the first, sometime around 10:40, informing them that there was now a fight in progress between Norman and his wife?s relatives.

The relatives, including Alex Matute, who allegedly attacked Norman, reside on the same family land as the Belisle family. There are, in fact, three houses in the yard, said police. It is believed that Matute must have heard the second dispute and intervened on behalf of his aunt.

Norman suffered two stab wounds from the fight with his wife?s nephew? one in the right side of the back and the other behind the right ear. He was taken to the Western Regional Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Norman and his wife had just returned from Melchor, where they had been for the day, when the altercation began. It is alleged that they had been drinking and that the altercation erupted because Norman wanted to beat his daughter, for some unexplained reason.

Norman Belisle?s funeral arrangements have been tentatively set for this Sunday, August 20. He leaves behind his wife, Victoria Belisle, his daughter and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death.

Amandala today spoke with a member of the Press Office, who said that Belisle had been a photographer there since 1997, when he first joined the service. He said that they received the disturbing news this morning.
