Guatemalan wanted for murder conspiracy in Guate, arrested in Belmopan

GeneralGuatemalan wanted for murder conspiracy in Guate, arrested in Belmopan

BELMOPAN, Wed. Aug. 12, 2020– A Guatemalan fugitive who had been living in Belmopan for about 5 years has been detained by police today, based on an arrest warrant issued by Guatemalan police, on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Guatemala national, Cesar Arnoldo Valleda, 44. a laborer of Canaan Street, Belmopan, will be handed over to INTERPOL Guatemala, who will take him back to Guatemala and hand him over to the police there.

Reliable information to us is that Valleda had been living quietly in Belmopan, and had applied for Belizean nationality and residency, but those procedures, through which he could have become a Belizean citizen, have now been scrapped due to his arrest for the serious crime in his country.

The warrant for his arrest was issued in July 2014 in Guatemala.
