Guatemalan’s throat slashed in Belmopan

BELMOPAN, Mon. July 26, 2021– On Saturday, police found the lifeless body of a man on Guyana Street, Belmopan, with an apparent fatal slash across his throat.

The man has since been identified as 50-year-old Guatemalan national, Armando Cacao. He was last seen alive on Friday evening, riding his bike in the area close to the location where he was found dead.

On Saturday, a passerby found his motionless body and alerted the police.

Since then, the Police Department has detained two individuals who they believe can shed some light on this recent homicide. No motive for the murder has yet been established.

ASP Yearwood, the communication director of the Police Department, said that the details surrounding this case are at this point in time a bit sketchy.

The investigation continues.
