The student was stabbed by sister of student with whom she had a “beef”

A 17-year-old female 3rd form student of Gwen Lizarraga High School in Belize City was the victim of an assault that could have cost her one of her eyes. She was stabbed below her left eye just after she had exited the school’s compound on Antelope Street today.

The incident took place sometime after 3:00 p.m. when classes had ended for the day. According to police, the student was having an ongoing dispute with a 4th form female student.

Today, however, for whatever reason, those problems escalated into a harrowing stabbing incident after, according to the reports of witnesses, a sister of the 4th form student went to the school this evening and lay-waited the 3rd form student outside.

A fight ensued between the two females, and somehow, the sister ended up stabbing the 3rd form student with a compass under the left eye.

The student was subsequently taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a police mobile unit.

Due to the unexpected incident today, the school’s principal, Dr. Lorna McKay, cut short her vacation to address the matter at the school; however, she declined to give a comment to us.

Police have said that they are presently looking for one person of interest in connection with the incident.
