Hankook Verdes eliminate Kremandala Penta in Cayo

SportsHankook Verdes eliminate Kremandala Penta in Cayo

Last night at the Marshalleck Stadium in Benque, the Avengers started the game with only 8 players, as opposed to the 9 that showed up for the last game against New Site Erei.

Folks, it was not a pretty sight. Despite the valiant effort from the extremely shorthanded Cayo Avengers, Benque Viejo D.C. United showed them no mercy. The final score, 15-1. Brazilian import Jefferson Da Silva recorded the best individual performance of the tournament by scoring 5 goals for Benque. Marvin Lopez scored 4 goals for Benque, 3 of which were spaced a minute apart. Also joining the fun for Benque was Emanuel Martinez who scored 3 goals. Kenneth Guerra and Gomer Enriquez both scored 1 goal each. Benque?s 15thgoal came as an own-goal from Avengers? Dwayne Tillett. Hector Martinez scored the only goal for the Cayo Avengers in the heartbreaking loss.

Hankook Verdes vs Kremandala Penta

After a brief stint at the top spot in Group B, Kremandala Penta fell to the 2nd spot and were hanging on by a thread. Going into last night?s match-up at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio, Cayo, against the home team Hankook Verdes, it was simply do or die for Penta.

Anthony Gonzalez gave Hankook Verdes the early 1-nil lead 5 minutes into the game. The score remained unchanged until well into the 2ndhalf. Then in the 77thminute of play, all hell broke loose. Albert ?Tala? Vasquez scored to give Verdes the 2-nil lead. Penta came roaring back in the very next minute and Orland Lyons scored for Penta to bring the score to 2-1 in favor of Verdes. Pardon me if I sound redundant, but in the very next minute, Verdes came roaring back and Stanley ?Rice? Robinson scored the clincher for the Green Machine.

That was all she wrote. Verdes? 3-1 victory vaulted them into the 1stplace tie in Group B with F.C. Belize. Both have 12 points but Verdes have the advantage due to goal difference.

For Kremandala Penta, the season is over as the loss eliminated them from the playoffs.
