GeneralHealth Ministry and Transport Dept. officers get first responders training

BELIZE CITY, Fri. Aug. 6, 2021– Today, Friday, August 6, 2021, 20 officers from within the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Terminal Management Unit within the Department of Transport received first responders training at the BELTRAIDE compound in Belize City.

Instructor Javier Canul from ABC Life Support led the training that was carried out today. This training is a part of the ongoing mission to improve road traffic safety. The initiative was funded through a US$5,850,000 loan from the Caribbean Development Bank back in 2019.

“This collaborative effort between the Government of Belize and CDB supports interventions to build the country’s road safety management capacity, improve the safety of road infrastructure and improve post-crash care,” says a release from the Government of Belize Press Office.

Belize has been taking many strides to improving road traffic safety. Most recently, the Government of Belize, though the Ministry of Economic Development, procured speed guns and breathalyzers to efficiently manage speeds and limit incidents involving persons driving under the influence of alcohol.
