American couple beaten; thieves stole $17,000 in cash and valuables
CONSEJO, Corozal District, Mon. July 22, 2019– A group of robbers invaded the home of Rodney and Wanda Brean, an American couple living in Consejo, beat and tied them up, then ransacked the house. The thieves, four masked men said to all be of dark complexion, stole $17,000 in cash, jewelry and electronic items before escaping.
Information to us is that last night, Retired American National, Rodney Brean, 52, and his wife Wanda, 51, were watching television in their home at #681 Consejo Road, Corozal District, when four robbers gained entry into their house by jumping over their fence and ran across the patio and went into the house through the unlocked back door and surprised the couple in the living room.
Rodney was stabbed under his right arm, and the couple was subdued. The thieves then bound them with transparent tape, and also tied their hands and feet.
Rodney told police that the robbers then ransacked the house and stole their belongings.
Afterwards, the Breans were able to free themselves and called police.
Rodney wrote on his facebook page: “Not sure it was a good idea to move here. I know there is crime and violence everywhere but it seems like Americans are the primary target here. Having my life and my wife’s life threatened is something I don’t think I can live with.”
Today, police said that no one has been arrested in connection with the home invasion so far, and that the stolen items and money have not been recovered.
