GeneralInfant dies during surgery; was he beaten to death?
Orange Walk police have detained a “person of interest” as they continue to investigate the death of Ezekiel Tejeda, a toddler of Tower Hill village outside of Orange Walk Town.

Tejeda, age 2, was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital in town around 4:00 p.m. on June 26, suffering from cardio pulmonary arrest.

According to the police’s account of the incident, a doctor checking over the child found bruises on the abdomen and, sources tell us, in his “genital area”.

The hospital accepted the baby for surgery, but the child died while the operation was underway.

Tonight’s newscast on LOVE FM reported that the baby’s mother had told police she had left her son in the care of his stepfather on Friday, only to return home to find out that the child had suffered the bruises. According to the radio station’s correspondent in Orange Walk, the child’s stepfather is being questioned with regard to the incident.
