SAN IGNACIO TOWN, Cayo District, Mon. Nov. 21, 2022

The San Ignacio & Santa Elena Basketball Association (SSBA) wrapped up its season with 6 games over the weekend at the Resilience Centre at Victor Galvez Stadium in San Ignacio Town.

On Sunday, all Under 7, Under 10, Under 12, Under 15 and Under 18 players received an individual trophy.

The SSBA would like to thank all the parents, players, coaches, table officials, referees, media houses and fans who were part of this year’s tournament. Below are the winning teams in each division.

The female champs walked away with a team trophy and $500 cash, while the male champs won a team trophy and $1,200 cash, the sub-champs got $800 and the third place team got $300.

Below are the scores for the past weekend. For the Senior Male division, NBB Pay Elite was a no-show for the third place game, and West Side was a no-show for the finals.

Thursday, November 17

GAME 1 – Shabla Events are the U7 female champions. (Under 7 – Female) Shabla Events, 12-10, over OB’s OJ. Shabla Events – Kenya Gillett 8 pts; Jazirah Sabido 4 pts. OB’s OJ – Raelynn Guerra and Alysse Kameka 4 pts each; Khloe Ara 2 pts.

GAME 2 – Mambas are the U7 male champions. (Under 7 – Male) Mambas, 11-3, over Joseph Freight/RGM Trading. Mambas – Zane Laurence 8 pts; Nadir Hernandez 2 pts; Isaac Jeffrey 1 pt. Joseph Freight/RGM Trading – Trevor Lennen 3 pts.

GAME 3 – JDB are the U18 male champions. (Under 18 – Male) JDB, 50-41, over Recino’s Imports. JDB – Israel August 15 pts; Kishawn Usher 11 pts; Jaheem Arnold 9 pts. Recino’s Imports – Tayshawn Haylock – 11 pts; Ian Rodriguez 10 pts; John Aranda 7 pts.

GAME 4 – West Side advanced to the finals. (Seniors – Male) West Side, 68-55, over Venoms. West Side – Kevon Laurie 22 pts; Raheem Thurton 13 pts; Jahiem Ciego and Ryan Duran 11 pts each. Venoms – Elvis Usher 17 pts; Elvert Arriola 9 pts; Frank Fuller 8 pts.

Sunday, November 20

GAME 1 – Ixchel leads the best-of-three series, 1-0. (Seniors – Female) Ixchel, 37-30, over Vegan Roots. Ixchel – Dania Calderon 12 pts; Elizabeth Panjoj 10 pts; Mabel Rodriguez and Jesika Prom 4 pts each. Vegan Roots – Kwatamani Kwasheita 11 pts; Jane Martinez 7 pts; Kwatamini Isisita Isudta 6 pts.

GAME 2 – Ixchel are the female champions. (Seniors – Female) Ischel, 44-28, over Vegan Roots. Ixchel – Dania Calderon 20 pts; Mabel Rodriguez and Claudia Bolanos 6 pts each. Vegan Roots – Kwatamani Kwasheita 10 pts; Jane Martinez and Kwatamini Isisita Isudta 9 pts each.
