BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Oct. 15, 2015–A resident of Lords Bank, Ladyville, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison today after Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith arraigned him on a single count of murder for the unlawful death of Ervin Osbert Franklin, 25, who was stabbed to death over the weekend.

Kafele Garcia, 19, did not have to enter a plea, because murder is indictable and will be heard in the Supreme Court if the Crown can prove that it has a prima facie case to take to the high court.

Chief Magistrate Smith remanded Garcia to prison until his next court appearance on November 16, 2015.

On Sunday, October 11, around 2:00 a.m. police visited Edwin Parks Street in the Lords Bank area of Ladyville, where they observed Ervin Osbert Franklyn with multiple stab wounds in the lower back and the armpit area.

Franklin was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The word in the streets of Ladyville is that Franklin was killed over a woman after he got into an altercation with the accused, Kafele Garcia.
