Keith Middleton, 24, shot in the chest, critical at KHMH

GeneralKeith Middleton, 24, shot in the chest, critical at KHMH
Tonight, at press time, the murders, and attempted murders, continue. Keith Middleton, 24, was shot in his home on Levi Slusher Street by a gunman who lured him out of the comfort of his living room.

Middleton opened the door a crack, and that was his error.

Middleton’s girlfriend spoke to us and said that the incident took place sometime after 9 o’clock at their upstairs board house. Middleton was sitting in his living room, eating and watching TV when someone knocked at their door and began to shout for him. She said that the person kept on shouting, and after a short time, Middleton opened the door partially to see who it was.

It was then that the assailant, whom she described only as being tall and wearing a cap just over eye-level, forced the door open and entered the doorway. She said that Middleton, before he opened the door, had told her to get behind some cover, so she could only see when the person fired a shot at Middleton, which caught him in the chest. She said that the assailant then ran down the stairs of their house and disappeared.

Police were alerted and Middleton was transported by BERT to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. At press time tonight, we were told that he is in a critical condition.

Middleton was previously shot on October 14, 2010 on the corner of Fabers Road and Central American Boulevard. He was one of two victims who police found on the scene of the crime. He was shot in the right leg, while the other victim, whom police have identified as Oscar Vidas, was shot in the left upper leg.

Police arrested Matthew Moore, 21, for this shooting, and he was charged in Magistrate’s court on October 21, 2010, with 2 counts of attempted murder, 2 counts of wounding and 2 counts of use of deadly means of harm.

Moore is on remand until December 2, 2010.
