SportsKhaya Gordon’s Navarro College Bulldogs win two more, now 30-2

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Oct. 19, 2023

Khaya Gordon and her Navarro College Bulldogs team continued winning dominantly when they again swept Lee College (4-10), 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-13) last week Friday, October 13, and conference rivals Coastal Bend College (1-11), 3-0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-9) yesterday, October 18.

The wins improved their record to 28-2, (13-1 in the Region XIV Athletic Conference) and they improved to fourth in the 2023 NJCAA DI Volleyball Rankings (Week Eight), a national coaches’ poll.

They next face Victoria College (0-11) on October 21, and will close out the regular season against Blinn College (10-2) on October 26 in the conference tournament. They had beaten both teams on September 14 and 19, respectively.

The Bulldogs have only lost two matches so far this season, and have only dropped 14 of the 108 sets they have played, 5 of 36 sets in conference play.

Khaya is credited with scoring 213.0 points in 28 matches, with 180 kills from 386 attacks, while playing in 78 sets, and is ranked near the top ten nationally with a .339 hitting percentage.
