GeneralKHMH eases COVID-19 surge response

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 22, 2021 — The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) has announced that the hospital has relaxed its COVID-19 surge response and will now be reopening its original emergency entrance. In March of 2020, the hospital opted to close the Emergency Ward to reduce the potential spread of the coronavirus in the facility. Almost 11 months later, and after two waves of COVID-19 in Belize, the hospital has decided to reopen its emergency facilities to the general public.

The notice from the KHMHA reminds all patients that they will be required to take a COVID-19 antigen rapid test before receiving treatment. Patients are also mandated to properly wear masks, sanitize regularly, and practice social distancing.
