GeneralLadyville mechanic still critical after Tuesday morning shooting

Until then, Granados will remain under observation in the hospital?s I.C.U ward.

On Tuesday, October 5, sometime around 10:15 a.m., Granados was shot in his neck when two unmasked men with guns, accompanied by two others who were unarmed, held up him, his brother-in-law, and the taxi driver.

Granados and his brother-in-law, Daniel Moreno, 32, a proprietor living at 6thAvenue, Corozal, were at #28 Banak Street in Belize City, trying to get Granados? Ford Explorer to start.

Moreno was supposed to travel to the U.S.A. that day, and the men, who were in a hurry to get to the Philip Goldson International Airport, hired a green van, bearing taxi license plates, that came by at the same time.

According to police reports, there were four other people inside the van, apart from the taxi driver, when Granados and Moreno entered it.

Police reports are that as soon as the two men entered the taxi, two of the passengers held up the men and the driver with a gun, and ordered the driver to go up Banak Street and head towards the Lord Ridge Cemetery.

As the driver was making his way off Central American Boulevard and into Cemetery Road, Granados put up a struggle and was shot in the neck.

Both men, Granados and Moreno, were robbed of their gold jewelry, and Moreno was additionally robbed of a briefcase with a large amount of cash, with which he intended to buy a vehicle in the U.S.

After the incident, both men were thrown out of the vehicle on the Western Highway, between the Belize Defense Force Volunteer Camp and the cemetery, and someone from the camp reported the incident to police.

After the men were dumped out of the taxi, the four men and the driver made their way up the Western Highway.

The driver of the taxi did not report the incident until 18 hours afterwards, police said.

At press time, police have made no arrests in connection with the robbery/shooting.
