BELIZE CITY, Sun. Nov. 7, 2021 — On Saturday, November 6, a man was chopped in the head during a dispute in the Spanish Town area of Lords Bank Village. According to reports, Neri Reyes, 34, was cleaning a yard in the area along with a group of men. Shortly after 6:00. that evening, however, Reyes got into a disagreement with three other men.

During that intense confrontation, one of the men grabbed a machete and delivered a blow to Reyes’ head. Shortly after, Reyes was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He was admitted for treatment, and reportedly is in a stable condition.

The man who allegedly caused Reyes’ injury, who is yet unnamed, has reportedly been arrested. The police continue to investigate to determine the circumstances which led to the chopping.
