LPG prices up again

GeneralLPG prices up again

BELMOPAN, Wed. Sept. 1, 2021– The Supplies Control Unit (SCU) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise announced in a Belize Bureau of Standards press release that as of Wednesday, September 1, 2021, there will be an increase in the fixed, controlled prices of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG).

The price of wholesale LPG will increase by $0.05 from $3.97 to $4.02 per gallon countrywide. The retail price per pound will see a slight increase of $0.01, resulting in a new price of $1.28 per pound in urban areas and $1.30 per pound in rural areas. The retail price per gallon will also increase by 5 cents to $5.62 in urban areas and $5.72 in rural areas, respectively.

The September increase in LPG rises is being attributed to rising acquisition costs for both propane and butane. A release from the Belize Bureau of Standards states, “The general public is advised that the prices established for imported LPG are based on the mixtures of 70:30 (Propane: Butane) only as per requirement of the Belize National Standard Specification for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) BZS 21:2012.”

The Belize Bureau of Standards encourages those in need of more information to contact the office of the Belize Bureau of Standards at 822-0446 or 822-0447, or via email at [email protected] or [email protected].
