Luxy Sports Bar 1st ever 10-Ball Tournament – Luis Valdez top shooter!!!

SportsLuxy Sports Bar 1st ever 10-Ball Tournament – Luis Valdez top shooter!!!

BELMOPAN, Wed. Oct. 2, 2019– The Belize District Billiards Association (BDBA) organized the 1ST EVER single-player 10-ball billiards tournament which was sponsored and played at Luxy Sports Bar at Princess Hotel and Casino in Belize City on September 28 and 29, 2019. The tournament was open to players from anywhere in Belize and outside of Belize. Registration fee was $40.00 per player. It was a bang, as a total of 24 top shooters registered, with only one player being from El Salvador in this race-to-4 match, double-elimination format.

The top four winners were: 1st Place – Luis Valdez from Corozal (Prize – $1,000.00 + trophy); 2nd Nain Rosado from Orange Walk (Prize – $500.00 + trophy); 3rd Wilman Mejia from Belize City (Prize – $100.00 + trophy); and 4th Immer Lima from Corozal (Prize – $50.00 + medal).

Of note, the player from Salvador, Francisco Rodriguez, who won the tournament the previous week with 40 players, was defeated first by Nain Rosado of Orange Walk, and then sent to the showers by Tim Banman of Belmopan. Immer Lima is a player from the U19 national team and playing now as a top shooter among the big name players. And, in last week’s tournament of 40 players, held at Long Island, 3 of the above winners were in the top 5 (Luis Valdez was 2nd, Nain Rosado was 5th, and Wilman Mejia was 3rd); so, three players are showing consistency in shooting, and probably saying, “Where is the next tournament, bro? So we can go!!!”

The Belize Billiards Sports Federation (BBSF) congratulates the BDBA, and extends Thanks to Luxy Sports Bar for sponsoring the tournament.
