BELIZE CITY, Thurs. July 1, 2021–Police are investigating the death of Mike Choc, who was the victim of a fatal road traffic accident between Miles 75 and 76 on the Southern Highway near Indian Creek Village. The accident occurred at around 2:15 on Wednesday afternoon.

When the police arrived on the scene, Choc was seen lying motionless next to his bicycle. About 100 feet away was an Isuzu pickup truck that, at the time that the accident occurred, was being driven by 28-year-old James Mossiah. According to reports, Mossiah was driving in a north-to-south direction from Belize City to Punta Gorda when the victim, Choc, allegedly rode in the path of his moving vehicle.

Choc was reportedly riding in the same direction in which the traveling vehicle was heading, and he was hit from behind, despite the driver’s reported efforts to avoid hitting him.

He was flung from his bicycle and received a number of injuries, which caused his death.
