BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 1, 2021– Today, during a police press brief, Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, deputy head of the Police Department’s NCIB, informed the media that a 21-year-old man has been charged with the attempt last week on Jervis Valencia’s life. Valencia was shot multiple times last Tuesday, but survived the shooting. He is currently in recovery. The 21-year old who has been charged is Kareem Tillett, who, police say, is also from the Mayflower area.
“Reference the shooting of Jervis Valencia, which occurred on Tuesday, police have since arrested and charged Kareem Tillet, 21 years, of [the] Mayflower area for the crime of dangerous harm, attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm.” Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero said.
He added, “This is a shooting that occurred in the Mayflower area, and this is as a result of internal fighting within that group of persons within that area.”
