A resident who lives near the area reportedly approached the vociferous youths and asked them to lower their volume and to stop making noise, and then he left.

Police investigations reveal that the crowd followed the man to his house, and they began to curse him and hurl missiles at his house.

Family members of the man, armed with machetes, then got out of the house and attacked the six persons who had been throwing objects at the house, leaving them with various degrees of chop wounds to their head and body.

Police went to the scene quickly, and four members of the family were arrested. The six persons were rushed to the Corozal Hospital, and one was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

The incident occurred two days after a man was stabbed to death in Cristo Rey, Cayo. About 9:30 on Friday evening, Leroy Moses Tzib was walking home when a man approached and stabbed him in the neck and in the back with a knife, killing him almost instantly.

Police have charged 24-year-old Giovanni Pech with murder for Tzib’s death.
