Mexican girl, 16, reported missing in Belize

COROZAL–Noemi Briceño Trapp, 16, a Mexican national of Chetumal, Mexico, whose grandparents and other family members are Belizeans of August Pine Ridge in the Orange Walk District, has been reported as missing since September 4.

The family reported that Trapp left her Chetumal home ,Thursday, September 4, and came over to Belize by the way of Botes, a bordering village between Belize and Mexico, along the Rio Hondo, but she did not arrive at her grandparents’ home in August Pine Ridge. She has not been seen or heard from since.

On the night of Tuesday, November, 4, the family told police, the girl communicated with them and said that she was being detained at Belize’s northern border by police.

The family quickly went to the northern border, but were told by authorities that the girl had not been seen, nor was she in their custody, or being dealt with by Immigration, Customs or the police. She had not been there, they said.

Noemi is of Hispanic descent, about 5 feet tall, and has curly hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the family at 666-0991 or 622-1932, or the nearest police station.
