Missing mentally ill epileptic found dead

GeneralMissing mentally ill epileptic found dead

BELIZE CITY, Tues. Dec. 1, 2020– Egner Guerrero, 54, a mentally ill epileptic man, was found dead today in a shallow pool of water in an area of the Western Paradise 8-Mile community on the George Price Highway.

The body of Guerrero, who was reported missing on Friday, November 20, was found in a state of decomposition at 9:30 a.m.

He left his George Street residence on November 20 sometime shortly before 9:00 a.m. to visit relatives, but never arrived.  Investigators said he was last seen near Hattieville, but suspected that he might have travelled further west to Belmopan, where other relatives of his reside.

Egner’s daughter, Jamillah Guerrero, is disappointed at what she perceives as police’s lack of interest in the fate of her father: “I received the call from the head of CIB, Mr. Cowo, and he told me that my dad was found dead … that is how we came to find that it was my dad on the 8 Mile road, right near to where I found his shirt, and we were told by the police to please conduct their searches that they supposedly said that they were doing, and not even 50 yards from that bus shed, that is where they claim that they found my dad.  My dad has never done anything wrong to anyone, and the police, had they done their job, we wouldn’t be in this situation,” she said.

Jamillah expressed comfort in the fact that her dad is not “suffering anymore,” and now that his body has been found, he can be afforded a funeral.

Police say no sign of violence was found on Guerrero’s body, and they do not suspect foul play.
