BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 8, 2016–Young Belizean fans, especially females, will be thrilled to learn that the star of the USA gymnastic team at the Olympics in Rio, Simone Biles, has embraced her Belizean roots, as evidenced in the below NBC interview done in March of this year.
Her “mom” that Simone refers to in the interview is actually her grandmother. According to an NBC report today, her adoptive parents, “Ron and Nellie Biles are indeed Biles’ biological grandparents, but adopted Simone and her sister Adria in 2001. Simone and Adria’s mother, Ron Biles’ daughter, struggled with drugs and alcohol.”
