The changes made to the Coat of Arms first appeared on the unofficial flag of British Honduras, which was adopted on February 2, 1950. At that time, the Union Jack was eliminated and the black man on the left was replaced with a white/Hispanic man. This version (with minor changes) was further adopted to the Belize flag at independence on September 21, 1981 and it now appears to be the official version of the Coat of Arms. Whether or not the new version was adopted legally is a question Adele may wish to pursue. Yours truly, Elston Wade, Jr.
