BELIZE CITY, Thurs. June 18, 2015–On Wednesday, June 17, the Primary School Football Nationals for females and males were held in Belize City. The female games were played at the MCC Grounds, while the male games were played at the Youth Hostel Field. Six male teams and six female teams participated, one male team and one female team representing each district as follows:

Stann Creek – Independence Primary females and males.

Cayo – Immaculate Concepcion RC females and Mount Carmel males.

Belize – Belize Elementary females and San Pedro RC males.

Orange Walk – Carmelita Gov’t females and La Immaculada RC males.

Corozal – Caledonia RC females and Chunnox SDA males.

Toledo – St. Peter Claver females and PG Methodist males.

They played a double elimination format in both the female and male competition. After 6 first round games in each category, 4 teams advanced to the semifinals, the two losers then played for 3rd place, and the winners battled for the championship. At the end of ten games in each category, Immaculate Concepcion RC of Cayo emerged as female champions, and Independence Primary of Stann Creek were crowned male champions.

For the females, 1st place Immaculate Concepcion RC (Cayo) was followed by 2nd place Caledonia RC (Corozal), and 3rd St. Peter Claver (Toledo). Female MVP was Therese Martinez of Immaculate Concepcion RC.

In the males, 1st place was Independence Primary (Stann Creek), 2nd Mount Carmel (Cayo), and 3rd San Pedro RC (Belize). Male MVP was Marlon Flores of Independence Primary.

Top goal scorers for the females were Alyanna Musa of Belize Elementary, Therese Martinez of Immaculate Concepcion RC and Normalee Gomez of St. Peter Claver with three goals each. For the males, Jeffton Apolonio of Independence Primary was top scorer with three goals.
