BELMOPAN, Thurs. Jan. 6, 2022– Near the end of 2021, the Ministry of Health and Wellness announced the opening of several free COVID-19 testing sites, in addition to the already existing ones at the Civic Center parking lot in Belmopan and the Civic Center in Belize City. These included Central Park, Louisiana Government School, Banquitas, and People’s Stadium in Orange Walk; the Civic Center, Chunox Health Center, and San Andres Community Center in Corozal; the Red Cross building in Punta Gorda, BTL Park in Dangriga, Falcon Field in San Ignacio, Sports Council in Santa Elena, and Marshalleck Cancha in Benque Viejo.

Of note, however, is a recent a notice shared by the San Ignacio Community Hospital which informs the public that as of January 5, 2022, COVID-19 testing services in Santa Elena have moved from the Santa Elena Sports Council to the Santa Elena Clinic. All other sites in Cayo remain unchanged.

The testing sites are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and can be accessed by anyone except those planning to travel. Persons getting tested are reminded to bring along their social security card or hospital card.

The ministry also encourages the public to get tested and to continue practicing COVID-19 safety protocols.
